Biomni Lab is the first Integrated Biology Environment (IBE)—a unified workspace where biologists can conduct their entire workflow. Biomni Lab covers the full spectrum of use cases across data modalities, disease areas, and drug discovery stages.

Biomni Lab is our cloud-based platform perfect for individual researchers and small teams, currently free during our post-launch period. Enterprise offers dedicated infrastructure, custom agents, priority support, and advanced security features for larger organizations. The open source Biomni project from Stanford is our community edition for scientists and developers who want to self-host and customize the platform.

Yes! Biomni Lab is currently at research preview. During this period, it is completely free to use. We’re excited to support the research community and gather feedback as we continue to improve the platform.

As a free service, Biomni Lab has usage limits to ensure fair access for all users. If you’re experiencing slower response times, it likely means you’ve reached higher usage thresholds. We’d love to discuss your research needs and explore options for upgrading to a paid tier that better suits your workload. Your data privacy is our top priority. When you launch a session, it creates a sandboxed environment that only mounts your user-specific folder—no other users have access to your data, and there’s no risk of cross-contamination. All data is securely stored on our servers with industry-standard encryption.

We are actively pursuing SOC2 and ISO certifications to ensure the highest standards of data security and privacy. If your organization has specific compliance requirements, please reach out to discuss how we can support your needs.

Your task sessions may be used to train and improve Phylo AI models, helping us enhance the Biomni Lab experience for all users. This is entirely optional—you can turn this off anytime by going to Settings > Privacy and toggling off "Help improve Biomni Lab."

Biomni Lab uses the best AI agent and frontier models trained on scientific literature and bioinformatics best practices. While our AI is highly capable, we always recommend validating results and reviewing the methodology used. The platform shows you trace steps so you can verify the approach and reproduce results independently. We recommend use the "review" function to launch an agent to monitor and identify hallucinations and mistakes.

When Biomni references scientific literature or external resources, it provides citations and links to the original sources. You can view these citations within your analysis results to understand the basis for recommendations and follow up on relevant research.

Biomni supports most common file formats in biomedicine. For optimal performance, we recommend keeping individual files under 10GB. Check out our Documentation for immediate help, and reach out to support@phylo.bio if you have any further questions.

Each Biomni session provides dedicated computational resources including 16 CPU cores and a shared and autoscaled 1TB memory for standard analyses. It is also connected to a high-performance computing cluster for specialized tools like AI models and bioinformatics software. Resource availability may vary depending on your subscription plan.

We’re actively developing features to allow users to integrate custom tools and databases. Enterprise customers can work with our team to integrate proprietary tools and databases into their Biomni environment. If you have specific integration needs, please reach out to discuss options. We currently support 120+ softwares, 70+ databases, and 190+ specialized tools for biologists to use right in Biomni Lab.

To disable the memory feature, navigate to your account settings and toggle off the memory function in the Preferences section. This will prevent Biomni from retaining context between sessions.

Sessions can take longer for complex analyses or very large prompts. Try breaking your analysis into smaller, focused tasks. If a session appears stuck, refresh the page or start a new session. If you’re experiencing consistently slow response times and are a heavy user of the free tier, you may have reached usage limits—contact us to discuss upgrade options.

You can download individual files from the Results tab in your task view. Use the download button at the bottom of the results panel for comprehensive exports. We’re actively developing enhanced export options.

Use the “Help” button above your profile picture in the bottom left corner of the Biomni Lab platform, or reach out through the live chat in the bottom right corner where you’ll connect with a member of our team. We appreciate detailed bug reports including screenshots, steps to reproduce the issue, and the session URL so we can investigate more quickly.
